Matt Davis-Steep Ravine Loop

One of our favorite hikes in the Bay Area, this 6.4 mile loop starts at Stinson Beach and traverses up the side of Mount Tamalpais. You’ll pass through 4 or 5 different types of environments: Deep forest, open fields, a ravine with falling streams, an open hillside with views of the Pacific Ocean. Park in Stinson Beach and find the trailhead on a street behind the fire station. The first 2-miles are the steepest and then you slowly meander back down the other side of the loop before finishing back in Stinson Beach.
